What kind of sleeper are you?
Sleep is a strange thing. I find it amusing how different people are when they are in bed. My aunt doesn't move. At all. She goes to bed and the next morning she gets out and you wouldn't know she had been there! My sister Hannah is a thrasher, of the unfortunate times I've shared a bed with her I have been kicked, punched and generally annoyed! She just doesn't stay still! My sister Amy was a walker. She would watch come downstairs and watch TV, whilst asleep. Sleepwalkers are quite scary!
I have come to the conclusion that I am a very very odd sleeper. I do strange things whilst I am in the land of Nod. No joke. I must apologise to those people who recieved either a phone call or text from me this morning. I was not...shall we say, Compos mentos??!! The other night I held up a cupboard door. And the night before that I was dreaming about Gilbert, He WAS a geographer. A geomorphologist. I was dreaming my revision. And telling myself, outloud, what I needed to know. I have also been known to turn my night clothes inside out, unmake my bed, I frequently talk, and have been known to walk. This is why I didn't share a room as a child. This is why I should have a separate room to my husband (touch wood) when I'm older. I am a scary, strange sleeper. I would scare me.

Exams (I may as well jump on the band wagon!!)
Well, I havn't posted properly for aggggggggggggggges. That's mainly because I havn't really done anything for agggggggggggggges. At least not anything to mention on here. I have spent the past week preparing for my exams (well exam) and will plod along until my last on 31st May (ggggrrrrr...could it BE any later??!!). Yesterday was my first :-S It was awful... But onward and upwards. Things can only get better!! I can't believe that an academic account of the whole year pretty much boils down to 4 exams...I dislike exams. They do not show my best. How can tehy show anyones best? They are really an example of how much you can remember...so not fair!!!!
Hmmmmm...on a more interesting note. My cupboard door fell down during the night. Scared me a little. I held it up for most of the time...tired arm!! Lol.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding!!
Hehe...it's hilarious!! I had been meaning to watch it for ages!! It wasn't half as funny for me as it was for Taj though!! Lol...I'm glad he enjoyed it!
Returned to Durham this week! Yey! Have spent the time drinking...eating...cooking...watching scrubs (yey!), watching films, catching up, watching poker...and playing poker!! Whilst trying to write a very stupid essay...gggggrrrrrrr
Wow...I would try to think of something amazing and deep to discuss but its late and it's been a long week. I am off to bedfordshire.

Thai anyone??!!
Hehe...Did you know...and I will be quite shocked if you did. But it is considered bad luck to have your hair cut on wednesday in Thailand. Yup, any self respecting barber will be shut today...and on all wednesdays....weird!

Back to life, Back to reality!
Lol...well I have returned, tired, sunburnt, and with plenty of washing! I had a good week overall. I climbed a couple of mountains, went paddling in a river, and found a delta from the mid holocene...not too shabby for 5 days work!!
Skye is stunning (especially in the sunshine). The hostel was not one of the best, but we ate at a hotel and the pub was ok! However, the hotel only served one meal: Carvery. This was not good. Having 7 roast dinners in a week is...almost sickening!!
Anyway, don't wanna bore you with any details as it will be geographical and you prob don't care! I might post some pictures when I find my wire...until then au revoir!

Off to the Isle of Skye
Yup, this shall be my last post for a few days...well 7 in fact. I am off to the Isle of Skye! I shall spend 7 days either travelling or walking around the highlands of North-West Scotland! I just hope the weather holds out!!
I have been watching a rather interesting Grand Designs!! The family building their Grand Design have developed a property that is environmentally friendly! Katherine Jones, a welsh architect seems pretty keen on encouraging builders to return to how it was and hopes that using environmentally products will be used more by all in the future. She is part of a group of Sustainable building. Check out the house in Wales!!
Anyhoo. Must go...packing to do, sleep to have.
Speak soon

All you need to know can be learned from Noah!
1. Don't miss the boat
2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.
3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
4. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something big.
5. Don't listen to critics, just get on with the job that needs to be done.
6. Build your future on high ground.
7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
8. Speed isn't always an advantage. the snails were on board with the cheetahs.
9. When you're stressed float for a while.
10. Remember teh Ark was built by amateurs, the titanic by professionals.
Take from it what you will!!

The Lakehouse
OK. I have got to talk to someone about this film. Has anyone out there seen The Lakehouse...starring (oh yeah!) Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock??!! I watched it the other night and I'm just flabbergasted!! I can't get my head round it...at all!!
Here's the plot...
A lonely doctor (Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its former resident, a frustrated architect (Reeves). They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it's too late.
Note former resident...yes Bullock living in 2004 gets letters from Reeves living in 2002...anyway...I don't want to say too much as will give away the story! But it's weird! I don't understand...I mean you still see the two of them together in 2002...but they seem to exist at different times??!! It's crazy!!
Here is a review(s) of the film...
I saw a screening of this last night and maybe I was just in the right mood for it, but I really enjoyed it. I'm not even a chick-flick kind of girl! It's best if you don't over-analyze the time-travel details and just go with it... it's a movie, after all. Seriously, I wasn't expecting that much and I got a better feeling from this movie than I have in a long time - it made me feel warm and happy. Plus, the whole theater laughed at some parts, plus people gasped and cried, and at the end everyone applauded. That's a good sign, if you ask me. I don't watch previews so I don't know what they give away about the plot, so I'm not going to give much of anything away here. I will just say that to me this was a uniquely told romantic story. I happen to like Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, although they are by no means favorites of mine, nor do I consider them to be consistently amazing actors (more often they're not... at least he's not...). But they made this story work for me and I believe they have good chemistry.
Maybe I should just go to it? I mean my family seem to love it...annd after all it is just a film...and I'm not normally one to ponder on how unrealistic the film is...but it just doesn't work!!
I have found someone who shares the same opinion as me...it is in fact their blog that inspired me to write this post...it's just praying on my mind!!

Mothers Day, Post Secrets, and much more!
Ok...Rant over...now I will get down to some hardcore blogging!! I havn't done this for a while!
So...
As most of you will be aware, it was mothers day on sunday. Many discussions have been had regarding commercialism and hypocracy regarding mothers day. However, I think that Mother's Day is an acceptable holiday...mainly because it's a chance for everyone to show their gratitude for their mothers, even if it is forced. Plus it has some actual historical context...unlike some other 'americanised' holidays!
Anyway...I found a song that I think is quite apt for the day...it's not a brilliant song...I just like the message!!

Tammy Wynette- No Charge
Now our little boy came up to his mom
In the kitchen this evenin' while she was fixin' supper
And he handed her a piece of paper he'd been writin' on
And after wipin' her hands on her apron
She read it, and this is what it said.
For mowin' the lawn, five dollars
For makin' my own bed this week, one dollar
And for goin' to the store, fifty cents
An' playin' with little brother while you went shoppin', twenty-five cents.
Takin' out the trash, one dollar
Gettin' a good report card, five dollars
And for rakin' the yard, two dollars
Total owed, fourteen seventy-five.
Well, as mom looked at him standin' there expectantly
And I could see the mem'ries flashing through her mind
And so she picked up the pen, and turnin' the paper over
This is what she wrote.
For the nine months I carried you growin' inside me, no charge
For the nights I've sat up with you
Doctored you, and prayed for you, no charge
For the time and the tears
That you've cost through the years, there's no charge
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is no charge.
For the nights filled with dread
And all the worries ahead, no charge
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college, no charge
For the toys, food and clothes and even for wipin' your nose
There's no charge, son
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is, no charge.
Well, when he finished readin'
He had great big old tears in his eyes
And he looked up at her standing there and said
Mama, I sure do love you
Then he took the pen,
And in great big letters
He wrote PAID IN FULL.
Lord knows when you add it all up
The cost of real love is, no charge...

Sunday is one of my favourite days of the week! Sunday is the day that Post Secret publish their latest secrets (hehe...look at that link!! I hope you are impressed of me Tim!). Now I don't always relate to the secrets, I don't always understand, but for some reason I find the blog comforting...I guess knowing that everyone has little gripes, worries, concerns in life kind of makes me feel a little more normal, and I guess makes me think that perhaps thigns are not such a big a deal as I think. Anyway...I just wanted to share that with you. Read it, laugh, cry, hate it! I hope you enjoy!
And finally, just thought I'd give you a quick update on my status! I'm back 'home' and will be for 5 weeks give or take a few days in Durham and a week in skye! So anyone from Darlo reading...I'm bored!
:-D
