It would seem to me that the blogging world is not what it was. I remember a time that after not using the internet for a day or two I would have several posts to catch up on from numerous bloggers. Now it seems that people don't make the time to blog of feel blogging is irrelavent. People barely update from one month to the next. I like catching up with people by the exciting stories they can make up. The way people can make a mundane task such as washing up sound like hours of fun amuses me. Where have you gone bloggers of the E-world???? Yes, I realise that Without a blog, the stars roar, the girl smiles, the cloud moves. Without a blog, the tides change, the boys run, the oceans crash. The crowds roar, the days soar, the babies cry, without a blog. The moon glows, the river flows, the breeze warms, Life goes on. Life does go on. But they do make life a little more interesting at times. Plus it's a good way to hear about what friends are upto when you can't actually be with them.
Maybe I just need to have something more exciting to be thinking about?

They think it's all over...
...it is now!
Today is my last day at work. :-( I have to admit I am a little sad, I have made numerous friends here and had a lot of laughs! But that's the end of my summer and I must return to Durham and start the next chapter. I have a new house and a new set of housemates (Yey!- the last lot were awful!! :-P).
Life is full of comings and goings, whether it be people, objects, homes.... We must learn to embrace these, make the most out of every situation, cherish the memories we make, and learn to accept the losses.
Then, at last, we may be content.

Lol...everyone look on in awe!!
Yup. I went to an allotment AGM yesterday. I am the definition of cool!!!!! It has to be one of the most amusing things I have witnessed in a long time!! Lots of grumpy old men arguing over the size of a lawn mower and discussing drainage ditch lengths!! I learnt a few names by the end...Brian was especially grumpy and p****d everybody off!! My Dad has an allotment, not me, in case you thought I had gone completely crazy! I don't like soil...(unless it's very old and maybe an odd colour). I accompanied him to his meeting. He seems quite keen on his allotment. I think it's place of solitude. It's his and only his. So I think he should get as much encouragement as possible! So I shall endeavor to attend as many pub meetings as possible :-D
Hope everyone is ok!!

Blood is NEVER blue!!!!
After having a rather serious lunchtime discussion...I decided to put things right!!! I myself believed the myth that de-oxygenated blood is blue so feel it is my duty to inform others like me! I'm afraid we were/are wrong!! Read the following reply regarding de-oxygenated blood
The blood in your veins is called venous blood.
What colour is venous blood?
When the haemoglobin in your blood combines with oxygen it turns bright red. When it loses oxygen it turns dark red. It may be described as dark crimson which reflects some blue but not enough to make it look blue or purple.
I have taken blood samples from veins many times and have donated blood many times and it always comes out of the vein as a very dark red colour. I have seen many blood agar plates kept in conditions where there is no oxygen--and the plates are dark red. I have taken blood with a vacuum syringe which contains no air at all. I have never seen the blood inside the syringe look blue.
Some people think that blood comes out of the vein and immediately turns red because it comes into contact with oxygen. When you watch blood coming out of your arm into a transparent tube, you realise that it is not contacting oxygen and it is a very dark red. In low light it almost looks black. When I first saw a bag of blood at the Red Cross I didn't recognise it at first because it was so dark red.
So why does the dark red blood look blue when it is in the veins? Veins are white, so the colour of the veins is not the reason.
It's because the light from the sun and light globes, etc is made up of many different colours and these are absorbed at different rates the deeper you go through the skin.
It's like what happens underwater...
I have been scuba diving and the deeper you go the less red you see unless you take a light with you. Everything looks blue, green or black. The water is absorbing the red end of the spectrum so that only blue light remains to be reflected. When you look into a deep swiming pool with a white bottom, it appears blue. Apparently skin does the same thing to the light. The deeper under the skin you go the bluer things look.
Then why does the skin of pale-skinned people turn red when they blush or become flushed? The tiny capillaries which carry the blood are so close to the surface of the skin that none of the red colour is filtered out.
But the blood in the veins which are a little further in under the skin look blue. Although it is really dark red!

Awesome...
Hehe...not sure who else experienced the fantastic weather yesterday but it was truly A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! It was incredible!! I managed to get onto a bus and was heading into town before the torrents of water started!! The roads were no longer roads...there was quite literally rivers running down the streets! Water reached 7 inches in some places!! People couldn't walk anywhere without getting their feet wet! Waterfalls were created from odd shaped roofs! I have never seen such chaos! Half an hours rain the whole town had stopped. Shops had closed. Electrics were down! Even Morrisons supermarket couldn't cope and were chucking customers out!
It is good to see and be reminded just how powerful forces outside of our control can be!!

M is for Mildert Day
A Day for Mildert. I have very bad memories of Mildert Day 2006, so It wouldn't have taken much to better last years events. Mildert Day is strange. A whole day is dedicated to being part of a college. The day can be spent in a number of ways: You can have a bounce on the inflatables...drink until you are sick doing the mildert day challenge (10 pints)...or listen to the completely ridiculous, awful, not funny, at times degrading carrot awards. Yet this is a day people look forward to? Like I said. It is strange. I did get my face painted and enjoy the company of some people. Lets not forget thrashing (ok..maybe not thrashing) Al at a game of crazy golf! I also recieved my results today and am relieved to know I have passed this year and may carry on to the joyus next level... Hope all is well with one.

They think it's all over...
...it is now!! (Hmmmm...I think i use [...] far too much??) Hehe. Yup, that's right. My exams have ended!! I would say it feels great, fantastic, amazing, such a relief. But...it doesn't. Too be truthful it feels no different. I just have no work to do again. All in all they seemed to go fairly smoothly, I don't think there was any exam that I couldn't at least make an answer up for..but I guess I won't know how well I've done for a few weeks... :-S ...roll on June 19th!!
Anyhoo...I would write a thrilling and exciting update of my wonderous life, but it's late, I'm tired, and I can't be bothered. I now away to my bed and plan to sleep for a good few hours. I'm sure I will be up for tea!!

What kind of sleeper are you?
Sleep is a strange thing. I find it amusing how different people are when they are in bed. My aunt doesn't move. At all. She goes to bed and the next morning she gets out and you wouldn't know she had been there! My sister Hannah is a thrasher, of the unfortunate times I've shared a bed with her I have been kicked, punched and generally annoyed! She just doesn't stay still! My sister Amy was a walker. She would watch come downstairs and watch TV, whilst asleep. Sleepwalkers are quite scary!
I have come to the conclusion that I am a very very odd sleeper. I do strange things whilst I am in the land of Nod. No joke. I must apologise to those people who recieved either a phone call or text from me this morning. I was not...shall we say, Compos mentos??!! The other night I held up a cupboard door. And the night before that I was dreaming about Gilbert, He WAS a geographer. A geomorphologist. I was dreaming my revision. And telling myself, outloud, what I needed to know. I have also been known to turn my night clothes inside out, unmake my bed, I frequently talk, and have been known to walk. This is why I didn't share a room as a child. This is why I should have a separate room to my husband (touch wood) when I'm older. I am a scary, strange sleeper. I would scare me.

Exams (I may as well jump on the band wagon!!)
Well, I havn't posted properly for aggggggggggggggges. That's mainly because I havn't really done anything for agggggggggggggges. At least not anything to mention on here. I have spent the past week preparing for my exams (well exam) and will plod along until my last on 31st May (ggggrrrrr...could it BE any later??!!). Yesterday was my first :-S It was awful... But onward and upwards. Things can only get better!! I can't believe that an academic account of the whole year pretty much boils down to 4 exams...I dislike exams. They do not show my best. How can tehy show anyones best? They are really an example of how much you can remember...so not fair!!!!
Hmmmmm...on a more interesting note. My cupboard door fell down during the night. Scared me a little. I held it up for most of the time...tired arm!! Lol.
