My Big Fat Greek Wedding!!

Hehe...it's hilarious!! I had been meaning to watch it for ages!! It wasn't half as funny for me as it was for Taj though!! Lol...I'm glad he enjoyed it!

Returned to Durham this week! Yey! Have spent the time drinking...eating...cooking...watching scrubs (yey!), watching films, catching up, watching poker...and playing poker!! Whilst trying to write a very stupid essay...gggggrrrrrrr

Wow...I would try to think of something amazing and deep to discuss but its late and it's been a long week. I am off to bedfordshire.

Night.

I love this song (thanks Tim)!! Unfortuantly this only plays 30 seconds...but the intro is fab so it may encourage you all to go listen or buy!! Enjoy!

Friday the 13th

ooh....spooky!! Hehe...thought I may as well carry on with the superstitious theme! And in honour of it being Friday the 13th I have adopted a vampire bat!! (Hehe...he's not really a vampire bat...hmmmm maybe he is..but...he eats flies...not humans...well not blood...at least not only blood...anyway...he is cool...he being Fredrick- and we all know that Fredrick is cool!!!)

Thai anyone??!!

Hehe...Did you know...and I will be quite shocked if you did. But it is considered bad luck to have your hair cut on wednesday in Thailand. Yup, any self respecting barber will be shut today...and on all wednesdays....weird!

Back to life, Back to reality!

Lol...well I have returned, tired, sunburnt, and with plenty of washing! I had a good week overall. I climbed a couple of mountains, went paddling in a river, and found a delta from the mid holocene...not too shabby for 5 days work!!

Skye is stunning (especially in the sunshine). The hostel was not one of the best, but we ate at a hotel and the pub was ok! However, the hotel only served one meal: Carvery. This was not good. Having 7 roast dinners in a week is...almost sickening!!

Anyway, don't wanna bore you with any details as it will be geographical and you prob don't care! I might post some pictures when I find my wire...until then au revoir!

Off to the Isle of Skye

Yup, this shall be my last post for a few days...well 7 in fact. I am off to the Isle of Skye! I shall spend 7 days either travelling or walking around the highlands of North-West Scotland! I just hope the weather holds out!!

I have been watching a rather interesting Grand Designs!! The family building their Grand Design have developed a property that is environmentally friendly! Katherine Jones, a welsh architect seems pretty keen on encouraging builders to return to how it was and hopes that using environmentally products will be used more by all in the future. She is part of a group of Sustainable building. Check out the house in Wales!!

Anyhoo. Must go...packing to do, sleep to have.

All you need to know can be learned from Noah!

1. Don't miss the boat

2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.

3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

4. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something big.

5. Don't listen to critics, just get on with the job that needs to be done.

6. Build your future on high ground.

7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

8. Speed isn't always an advantage. the snails were on board with the cheetahs.

9. When you're stressed float for a while.

10. Remember teh Ark was built by amateurs, the titanic by professionals.

Take from it what you will!!

The Lakehouse

OK. I have got to talk to someone about this film. Has anyone out there seen The Lakehouse...starring (oh yeah!) Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock??!! I watched it the other night and I'm just flabbergasted!! I can't get my head round it...at all!!

Here's the plot...

A lonely doctor (Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its former resident, a frustrated architect (Reeves). They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it's too late.

Note former resident...yes Bullock living in 2004 gets letters from Reeves living in 2002...anyway...I don't want to say too much as will give away the story! But it's weird! I don't understand...I mean you still see the two of them together in 2002...but they seem to exist at different times??!! It's crazy!!

Here is a review(s) of the film...

I saw a screening of this last night and maybe I was just in the right mood for it, but I really enjoyed it. I'm not even a chick-flick kind of girl! It's best if you don't over-analyze the time-travel details and just go with it... it's a movie, after all. Seriously, I wasn't expecting that much and I got a better feeling from this movie than I have in a long time - it made me feel warm and happy. Plus, the whole theater laughed at some parts, plus people gasped and cried, and at the end everyone applauded. That's a good sign, if you ask me. I don't watch previews so I don't know what they give away about the plot, so I'm not going to give much of anything away here. I will just say that to me this was a uniquely told romantic story. I happen to like Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, although they are by no means favorites of mine, nor do I consider them to be consistently amazing actors (more often they're not... at least he's not...). But they made this story work for me and I believe they have good chemistry.

Maybe I should just go to it? I mean my family seem to love it...annd after all it is just a film...and I'm not normally one to ponder on how unrealistic the film is...but it just doesn't work!!

I have found someone who shares the same opinion as me...it is in fact their blog that inspired me to write this post...it's just praying on my mind!!

Sunday, March 25

Silly walk anyone??

I was once shown this fantastic piece of comedy by a very good friend of mine, however, there was a minute or so missing. I have found this longer version and wanted to share it with you!!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Mothers Day, Post Secrets, and much more!

Ok...Rant over...now I will get down to some hardcore blogging!! I havn't done this for a while!

So...

As most of you will be aware, it was mothers day on sunday. Many discussions have been had regarding commercialism and hypocracy regarding mothers day. However, I think that Mother's Day is an acceptable holiday...mainly because it's a chance for everyone to show their gratitude for their mothers, even if it is forced. Plus it has some actual historical context...unlike some other 'americanised' holidays!

Anyway...I found a song that I think is quite apt for the day...it's not a brilliant song...I just like the message!!

Tammy Wynette- No Charge

Now our little boy came up to his mom
In the kitchen this evenin' while she was fixin' supper
And he handed her a piece of paper he'd been writin' on
And after wipin' her hands on her apron
She read it, and this is what it said.

For mowin' the lawn, five dollars
For makin' my own bed this week, one dollar
And for goin' to the store, fifty cents
An' playin' with little brother while you went shoppin', twenty-five cents.

Takin' out the trash, one dollar
Gettin' a good report card, five dollars
And for rakin' the yard, two dollars
Total owed, fourteen seventy-five.

Well, as mom looked at him standin' there expectantly
And I could see the mem'ries flashing through her mind
And so she picked up the pen, and turnin' the paper over
This is what she wrote.

For the nine months I carried you growin' inside me, no charge
For the nights I've sat up with you
Doctored you, and prayed for you, no charge
For the time and the tears
That you've cost through the years, there's no charge
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is no charge.

For the nights filled with dread
And all the worries ahead, no charge
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college, no charge
For the toys, food and clothes and even for wipin' your nose
There's no charge, son
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is, no charge.

Well, when he finished readin'
He had great big old tears in his eyes
And he looked up at her standing there and said
Mama, I sure do love you
Then he took the pen,
And in great big letters
He wrote PAID IN FULL.

Lord knows when you add it all up
The cost of real love is, no charge...

Sunday is one of my favourite days of the week! Sunday is the day that Post Secret publish their latest secrets (hehe...look at that link!! I hope you are impressed of me Tim!). Now I don't always relate to the secrets, I don't always understand, but for some reason I find the blog comforting...I guess knowing that everyone has little gripes, worries, concerns in life kind of makes me feel a little more normal, and I guess makes me think that perhaps thigns are not such a big a deal as I think. Anyway...I just wanted to share that with you. Read it, laugh, cry, hate it! I hope you enjoy!

And finally, just thought I'd give you a quick update on my status! I'm back 'home' and will be for 5 weeks give or take a few days in Durham and a week in skye! So anyone from Darlo reading...I'm bored!

:-D

GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I have had a post planned for days...I've just never got round to writing it. And now I don't want to because I'm so MAD!

To be or not to be...??

Today my two faces finally met, and I had a decision to make :-S. Yup, My Team aka Liverpool played my secret team Manchester United. You would not believe the trauma that this 'simple' game of football caused. I was in complete turmoil! Do I continue to 'show my support' for the team that I have always said I have or do I cheer for the players I actually know?? Unfortunately or maybe fortunately this turned out to be a relatively simple decision as watching Liverpool for the first time since Owen left (not necessarily true but you get the idea...) I realised that they are almost a team of cheating, diving, appealing b******s. I was not impressed. I also found myself cheering when Man U played well, Van De Sar saved an attempted goal, and when Man U finally scored a goal. I think that these situations can hit us a lot in everyday life. So many people 'play up' to people. Not necessarily lying or being deceitful or malicious but simply forcing interest or agreeing with people on subjects that they don't agree on or...the list is endless. I think it can be somewhat amusing and potentially traumatic when the two sides meet. It is then that we must make up our minds and get off the fence. I'm not sure how much people like that. Hmmmm...

Thursday, March 1

Lol...I thought this was slightly amusing!!

A boy was playing with his trains, whilst his mum was in the kitchen. All of a sudden she heard him say.. ."all you bastards getting off, fuck off, all you bastards getting on hurry the fuck up". His mum horrified sends him to his room for 2 hours until he can be polite and be nice.

When he starts playing with his trains again 2 hours later she heard him say.. ."all those disembarking mind the step, and to all those just boarding enjoy your journey, and finally to all those upset at the 2 hour delay, blame the bitch in the kitchen!"

The wonders of blogging.

Have you ever wondered why people do this? There are over 961,507,103 on this site alone. Blogging has taken over the world. Today I had a bit of a break from work and spent it browsing some blogs. So many of them are, just as I expected ramblings from people. Thoughts about their life, their worries, their feelings. This is how I use my blog. I don't post very often. I post when I have something to say. When I need to release my feelings. When I just need to have my thoughts out loud. This can be applied to both 'positive' and 'negative' posts. I understand that there are people who read my blog, who will judge, assume, and worry when necessary. But please note that my blogs are not written with a reader in mind. I do not assume that people will read, take note, take interst, nderstand what I am writing about or referring to. I really don't write my posts to victimise or criticise anyone. I do not write them to intentionally belittle or upset or offend. It a way for me to rid of my excess emotions. I can only apologise if my latest post has caused any hurt or upset or offence to any of my 'readers'. This was not my intention and never will be.

Wow...145th post...

...that seems pretty impressive!! I think I have probably written 145 posts of worthless s**t though!!

I don't think todays will be any different. I have had an odd few weeks. I have seen...realised...been made aware of many revelations that have been happy, joyful, amazing, tearful, and sad. It is unfortunate that the saddening and unhappy relevation is fairly dominant over the happy, joyful, and simply amazing revelation. Don't you hate that the bad no-matter how infrequent or insignificant always seems to outweigh the good, if only for a day, an hour, or even a second. That 'bad', soul destroying, possibly life changing...life effecting thing takes the excitement and pure unadulterated happiness out of your life. I know that hate is a strong word, and I refuse to allow myself to actually hate anything or anyone. But for that day, hour, or second I have to admit that I have at times wished that I have never had the 'pleasure' of meeting the cause of my unhappiness. That said, I am a believer that it is only you that can allow someone or something to upset you, and that by overlooking things and shrugging things off you are being the bigger person. But we are only human right? We are not emotionless. Sometimes things are too much. Too upsetting. Too hurtful. It is at these times that it takes a lot to be the bigger person. It is not always achievable. It is at these times that I use the word hate. I hate myself for not being strong, I hate myself for not giving my all, I hate myself for not being the friend that I know I can and want to be. I hate myself for not going the extra mile. I hate myself for not asking the questions I wanted to ask. I hate that I can't find the right words. I hate that no matter what I tell myself, no matter what I try to think I can't stop feeling alone, empty. I can't. And I hate that. I hate that my happy thing, my happy place no longer provides warmth, it no longer provides comfort. I hate that. I hate that I will go to bed feeling guilty for my failures in not giving the day and everything in that 100%.

I hope you had a good day.
